Hailing from Kolkata, one of India’s most musically vibrant cities, Ankur Kedia began his career at the young age of 16, holding residencies in local clubs. As Deep Brown, he has been captivating dance floors with a diverse palette of grooves inspired by the Chicago house and Detroit techno eras.
Ankur is known for curating a unique strain of dance music, deeply influenced by the electronic sounds he grew up listening to when the genre first began permeating venues in India. Over the years, he has enthralled audiences with his seamless blend of house, funk, disco, and acid/cosmic techno, all delivered within an old-school vibe of pure flow.
Deep Brown’s project is a continuous exploration of his identity as a ‘deep’ thinker from the subcontinent. This journey reflects his commitment to experimenting on the dance floor and honing his craft. Currently, he runs Bleep, an artist management and touring agency dedicated to promoting electronic music culture in India. Since its inception in 2017, Bleep has brought internationally renowned artists like Kevin Saunderson, Jimpster, Horse Meat Disco, Sebastian Mullaert, and Wata Igarashi to India, many for the first time.
Behind the decks, Deep Brown’s vibrant personality shines through, whether in his playful printed shirts or with his light-hearted humor. He has performed at leading Indian festivals like Goat and Magnetic Fields, sharing stages with notable artists such as Ben UFO, Four Tet, and Willow. Recently, he has also supported celebrated acts like DJ Pierre, Dusky, Tom Trago, Leon Vynehall, and Moxie during their India tours.
