Kiasmos

Kiasmos

Kiasmos is the collaborative electronic project of Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds and Faroese musician Janus Rasmussen. Founded in 2009, the duo dedicated themselves fully to the project in 2014, blending Ólafur’s acoustic, piano-driven sensibilities with Janus’s expertise in synth-heavy electro-pop. Their self-titled debut album, recorded in Reykjavík, combines lush, ambient textures with driving electronic rhythms. Featuring grand piano, a live string quartet, drum machines, and innovative sound design—including field recordings and unconventional percussive elements—it strikes a balance between introspective home listening and danceable energy.

Driven by a shared love for electronic music, Kiasmos crafts immersive soundscapes that explore deep emotional territory. Their work reflects a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to creating music that feels cohesive as a singular artistic statement. By merging acoustic and electronic elements seamlessly, Kiasmos has established a distinct voice in contemporary electronic music.
