We are thrilled to announce the release of a brand new track, ‘SOUL VE55EL,’ on DGTL Records. In anticipation of this exciting release, we had the opportunity to sit down with Whitesquare to discuss the inspiration behind the track, his creative process, and what sets this release apart from his previous work.
Inspiration and title
Whitesquare, known for his unique blend of sounds and eclectic influences, draws much of his inspiration for ‘SOUL VE55EL’ from the early 2000s records in his collection. “I aimed to preserve that trancey vibe while incorporating a more modern approach,” he explains. The track’s title is a nod to a piece of art by Japanese artist Hidetaka Miyazaki, which Whitesquare admires. “In short, it’s an item that allows you to rearrange your abilities and capabilities. Similarly, in this track, I took a different direction than my usual signature sound,” he adds.
Creative process and challenges
The creative process for ‘SOUL VE55EL’ was remarkably fluid and organic for Whitesquare. He shares that there were no significant challenges. “I just jammed in my studio, and this is what naturally came out,” he says. This effortless creativity is evident in the track’s vibrant energy and innovative soundscapes.
Musical elements and influences
A notable departure from his previous work, ‘SOUL VE55EL’ features a slightly diminished rock ‘n’ roll vibe, a characteristic element in many of Whitesquare’s past productions. Instead, he composed most of the track on a Korg Monopoly, an instrument he often uses to craft those distinctive “trancey” sounds. “Early 2000s trance and progressive house were major influences,” Whitesquare notes, highlighting the genres that shaped the track’s sound and style.
Artistic direction and audience experience
In terms of his broader musical career, ‘SOUL VE55EL’ represents a new sound direction Whitesquare is currently exploring. It is a testament to his evolving artistry and willingness to experiment with different musical elements. When asked how he hopes people will experience the track, his answer is simple: “Dancing to it!”
