All explained here.
Visitors, crew, artists. So everyone that is part of this festival won't eat any meat.
At DGTL festival 2015 we almost sold a 13.500 meat products variating from hamburgers, hotdogs, dutch croquettes and pulled pork sandwiches. This resulted in an estimated emission of 20.950 kg/CO2 (non-bio), 4,8 million liters/water and 7.200 kg/forage.
Fishing also creates high emissions. Depending on where the fish are caught, CO2 emissions can reach up to 2,9kg for each 1kg of fish.
We know that soya has a high carbon footprint but it is still way less than meat.
We are taking this step by step…
If the whole population would go vegetarian once a week, what is the effect of this? With 16 million people you can save up till 407.272 ton CO2.
Our intention is to create awareness about how much carbon footprint we would reduce by not eating meat with 40.000 people for a day, a week or longer. People know that our festival has a big focus on sustainability and that we want to produce a festival that is as sustainable as possible. We cannot leave the food part behind. Before or after the festival you can eat as much meat as you like, but not at our festival. This includes everyone so the dj's won't eat meat as well, but hey no worries, we will provide enough alternatives. We'll take good care of you ;).
